"Visit to outpatient departments"

About: Withybush General Hospital

(as the patient),

Have had occasion to visit Withybush outpatients dept twice in the last 12 months, and cannot speak to highly of the care and attention received.

The first, a visit to the endoscopy unit, which I must admit approaching with a fair amount of trepidation, as I think possibly most people feel, when faced with an unknown factor. I need not have worried, the nursing staff were superb, putting me at ease by explaining the procedure, which is not as scary as envisaged, possibly helped by the skill of the doctor and staff combined. Tea and biscuits, along with a "talk" through after....job done! And thankfully all clear.

Second visit was to the Audio/hearing dept this week....Have been pretty hard of hearing since abut 20yrs old, due to industrial damage...have worn aids for the last 40yrs plus..and have been with Withybush for the last 10. Checked out every 6 months, and this week after a fair wait was lucky enough to have my new aids fitted. Service as always was excellent. met at the door to the unit at 8 15am! The time of my appointment, giving a complete audio check over, new aids fitted, and out an hour later, job done. Again cannot fault the service or professionalism received.

Although much is said of the Health Service, its drawbacks and service failings, and in those departments, A&E..surgical wards etc etc...where pressure etc is at its highest, time should be taken to be thankful to a ALL departments that work on. and for our wellbeing.
