"The nurses were so patient & had a lovely manner"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was admitted with a water infection which needed IV antibiotics to treat. My daughter was well looked after by the doctors & nurses. The nurses were so patient & had a lovely manner with my 3 year old little girl hospital is a scary place & they helped to make her feel safe & even when really upset & distressed they still stayed calm & patient. I would like to thank some staff in particular that cared for my daughter. The following nurses were great Frances, Kristie, Andy, Jackie (student nurse). Lucy the paediatric doctor was great & also the nurse in charge Sharon who followed up a referral for my daughter while we were in. The only negative I have about our stay was I felt that it seemed patients including ourselves were trying to be discharged too quickly I understand that beds are always needed but for parents there children being in hospital is hard enough without it feeling like you are being pushed out when still not well or still having problems you had on arrival. Think the discharge procedure needs looking at. But Thankyou to the nursing & medical team for looking after my little lady so well.

Dear loving mummy

Thank you so much for sharing your story, we always enjoy receiving feedback from children and families and it helps us to ensure we can maintain and improve our service to deliver the best possible experience for patients.

I'm so very sorry that you felt that your daughter was being discharged too soon, we recognise that children don't enjoy being in hospital and do try to discharge them as soon as possible, however children and families should never feel like they are being pushed out before they are ready and I will certainly feed this comment back and address this matter.

It's lovely to hear that your daughter is on the mend, and it was a pleasure to look after such a brave little girl and her mummy and daddy. I look forward to sharing your comments with the rest of the team who will be delighted.

Please do contact me again if your still struggling with your appointment and I will certainly chase this for you. The ward telephone number is 01522 573786/573788 or you can email patient.experience@ulh.nhs.uk

Very best wishes

Sharon and Laura
