"Worst experience of my life"

About: Liverpool Womens Hospital / Maternity care

I'm 19 years of age having my first child it was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me, my baby was breach so I had a planned c section the week before my due date, I had the c section and put on to what I thought was a ward, there was no beds on any of the wards so I am still not sure what room I was put in, after spending the first night with no help from any members off staff I struggled bending out the bed to get my baby, the next day they came and took my cafita out and that was that. I had bled all over my bed my. Boyfriend had asked 7 times for someone to change my bed sheets as I was lying in blood but he kept getting told they would be in in a minute after waiting 12 hours I got out of bed and sat on a chair whilst my boyfriend and mum stripped the bed next to me no one had been in since I got there and replaced my sheets with them. Hours later someone came in and gave me a lot of abuse over it and walked out. I called a midwife it took them over an hour to see to me and asked what was going on why had no one came out to me and I was told 20 minutes later that they thought I had been moved on to a ward. After all that stress I got to go home after being moved until a week later I went back in with mastitis, I was carted around on to a ward then on to hcu and then back on to a ward then back to hcu because they couldn't control my temperature I had said many of times that if they would give me my paracetamol drip straight after my antibiotics then that would stop my temperature going past 40 but I wasn't listened to they looked at me like I was stupid even though they did it 4 days later and it worked my temperature didn't go up again. Before they did that they added a new antibiotic on to my drip as my uncle is a herbalist he wanted to know everything the hospital was giving me so I text him over this new antibiotic they were giving me he researched it and it came up its harmful to the baby if I breast feed whilst on this antibiotic which they didn't think to mention, they were still encouraging me to breastfeed at this time until I called a midwife in and told them who then brought a doctor in who I was saying no it will just cause Diyarhia, I had the evidence pretty much later out in front of them but they still tried to back themselves up. I could go on for hours about how I was treated in this place. Can honestly say I would never go back here again

We are very sorry to hear of your recent experience in the hospital. The standard of care that you received is not what is expected from our staff. If you contact the Patient Experience Team on 0151 702 4353 or PALS@lwh.nhs.uk we will arrange for you to speak to one of our Maternity Matrons about your poor experience.
