"My breastfeeding journey"

About: Butler's Hill & Broomhill Children's Centre

(as the patient),

When my son was around six months old I started having some problems with breastfeeding and was unsure where to go for support. My health visitor advised me to go to my local feeding group at the sure start centre in which I was introduced to Carla. Not only did Carla give me excellent support to overcome breast feeding issues and able me to continue feeding my son who is now one, I also met a great group of women and their babies at the group allowing me and my son to interact with others on a weekly basis and we now look forward to going there each week. I am now waiting to complete a course which will enable me to become a breast feeding peer support worker as I feel it's so important for new mums to get the correct support.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story about the experience you had at the feeding group. Carla and Tracey work hard to ensure that parents and babies are provided with the support needed within the group to help mothers' to continue to breastfeed. I am so pleased to hear that you have been able to make friends and your son has been able to mix with other babies of a similar age. It's also great to hear that you are now completing a course to be a peer supporter, this is a valuable role in the children's centre to support mothers who need advise and support and who better to provide this support than someone who has been through it already.I look forward to seeing you in the centre.
