Over the weekend there were a number of patients unsettled which resulted in my leave to the gym being cancelled. Staff are in the office doing their notes and when they hear shouting they will come out of the office. It would be good if staff were on the ward more and not in the office and ask patients if there is anything they can help with. This would stop patients constantly knocking on the office window. On a positive note, the OTs organised a topic discussion group, gym sessions, swimming and DVDs during the week. It would be useful for the activity co-ordinator to get a few patients together to discuss what kind of activities they want on the ward and to spend more time doing activities with patients. After activities, it would be good to have a social drop-in at the café for a coffee/light refreshments, . I have suggested that an activity co-ordinator could be trained to take patients on swimming sessions.
