"Quick thinking Doctor saved my life"

The doctor saved my my life on Monday 16/01/2017 by going beyond their duty of care after I had been dismissed by another doctor I have never seen before for having a viral infection yet I had malaria. I am pleased the doctor listened to me as I explained my symptoms and sent me for a test. Turns out I indeed had worst strain of malaria that affects the brain. I was sent to A and E immediately where I received treatment and I am currently recovering taking care of my family. Doctors should listen more to their patients and not be dismissive especially when patients have pre existing conditions that make them susceptible to illness. Also when a patient tells you they have just come back from Holiday in Africa and beg you for a malaria test and you can see that the patient is ill, where is the harm in testing the patient . For instance I told the previous doctor that I have had malaria in the past and know all the symptoms that I am experiencing are that of one with malaria. The doctor was just patronising and told me to go home take paracetamol and come back in a week! I could have been dead in a week had the other doctor not helped me. I even told the doctor I have had paracetamol for the past four days and it hadn't worked I was getting worse. I am a single mother of two kids come on if I tell you I am not well, listen after all better safe than sorry. The purpose of this review is to give credit where credit is due. I understand the surgery is overrun with patients but it's not all bad. The new system where one calls and talks to a doctor over the phone is fantastic. It's saves us all time.
