"Treatment of Calcification tendinitis"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I experienced the most excruciating pain ever, for over a week and was told on 2 occasions at 2 other hospitals that I had an avulsion fracture of my shoulder. When I was seen by one of the Orthopaedic Specialists at Stepping Hill they immeditely confirmed the diagnosis as Calcification Tendonitis and proceeded to give me a steroid injection. The consultant kindly booked me into their already fully booked clinic 1 week later and gave me another steroid injection which helped reduce the pain enormously. I then had a Barbotage procedure 2 months later and now 6 months after this,my shoulder has fully recovered. I could never thank this consultant enough, they were always so busy in their fully booked clinics. the consultant never appeared to have the assistance of other doctors but yet was professional and efficient in every way. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to send us your positive feedback. It is always greatly appreciated when a patient takes the time to contact the trust to pass on their positive comments about the care they received. I am pleased to hear that the Orthopaedic consultant confirmed your diagnosis and that you received the care and treatment for this and that your shoulder has fully recovered. I was also pleased to read that the consultant was professional and efficient in every way.

I will pass on your thanks to the management of the Surgery team and they will in turn pass them on to the staff.

Kind regards

Case Officer
