As a consequence of having a breast lump discovered during a routine mammography I was admitted to a newly refurbished, clean and pleasant ward at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital two years ago.
Pre-admittance check was sensitively handled, with a designated nurse who would look after me during my stay, ensuring continuity of care.
The anaesthetist listened to my concerns and was very reassuring. I was able to walk into theatre and felt I had some control.
My recovery was well monitored - the ward had a patient's dining room - quite the restaurant and a chance to talk to other patients. Actually, I never felt like a patient.
Eventually, I discovered the lumps removed in the op were not cancerous. My care was excellent and the doctors and nursing staff are thorough and supportive.
