"Applying for Hearing Aids was one of my better decisions"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Audiology

(as the patient),

I was given a hearing aid about 25 years ago - which I chose at the time not to wear - as the noise was giving me headaches. Anyway got referred back to Glasgow Royal Infirmary - only to be told I needed two hearing aids. I am 53 years of age. I work in an office. I do audio typing. Unfortunately, despite the help of Paul (Audiologist) and my work - I cannot use my aids in work. I wear them going to work and after work but not in work. My hearing aids are moulded and stay in your ear without moving about as I had heard bad reports about the other ear inserts. So much so my mum is getting fitting in February for her moulded hearing aids. Paul arranged this for her. I would recommend Glasgow Royal Infirmary Audiologist Department. All the staff are lovely and friendly and very approachable. I am at the stage where I am needing to replace the tubing in the hearing aids. Wish me luck! ! If I cannot do it myself, I will be making an appointment to head back to the Royal. As the heading to this story says "Applying for Hearing Aids was one of my better decisions". Thank you all at Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Dear Hairyhaggis53

Thank you for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion. I am pleased to read about your experience with our Audiology Department in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, especially about the care you received from Paul. It is lovely to read that despite not being able to use your hearing aids at work that they are making a difference to you outside of work.

I will ensure your kind words are shared with the Audiology Department, especially Paul.

Best wishes
Lisa
