"Left for hours at Arrowe Park"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Concerned with bleeding at 17 weeks pregnant, I was advised to go to A&E Arrowe Park, to ask to be 'listened into'. I only needed a heartbeat confimation.

After six hours in A&E during which time I overheard staff disscussing me being registered elsewhere, I was transfered to maternity for another two hours. I had not eaten or drank since 9am and wasn't allowed anything during my stay. It was 8.50pm(a long time in a very warm dry environment) when I decided I could not take it anymore and left the building.

Granted the transfer to maternity was made at the same time as the shift changeover then there was an emergency and only one gynaecologist on duty, but I believe it does not necessarily need to be a 'doctor' to check a heartbeat.

Why was I left eight hours without any communiction? Was the lack of attention due to being registered with the Women's Hospital instead of Arrowe Park?
