This is the thank you letter I sent to Hairmyres hospital following a surgical procedure:
I thank you for your response to the delay of my surgery procedure and apologise for my delay in responding back. Unfortunately, the removal of my gallbladder did not stop my pain or alleviate my symptoms and I was readmitted to Wishaw General. I feel that the doctor who carried out the procedure dismissed my symptoms and insisted that I was improving when in fact my condition was rapidly deteriorating. To cut a very long story short I was diagnosed with blocked arteries (stomach area) and transferred to Hairmyres Hospital under the care of Mr Kettlewell vascular team. I underwent successful surgery with one Stent placed.
Dr. Kettlewell, Dr. Alex Vesey, Dr. Matheson and Dr. Mirghania to name but a few administered what I can only describe as outstanding, exceptional person centred care. I witnessed without exception the team in ward 8 displaying values and ethics that only individuals with vocational calling could portray. I and others were not only listened to but heard. This specialised team at no time displayed any egos or superiority. They were informative and sought to educate in simplistic language.
I wish to plead that this sympathetic, empathetic and outstanding team be recognised for the constant holistic care given and to convey my deep, deep gratitude to the magnificent team at ward 8.
