I am severe sufferer of rheumatoid Arthritis and attend the hospital frequently.
As time as passed arthritis as got worse especially my hand, the right one and so it was decided to have several operations so I could have better use of it. Because fingers were slowly, turning in meaning I could not use it properly and the little finger was in the palm of hand pulling my fingers in. So it was decided to amputate the little finger and also have my thumb pinned to correct it in a better position. Later my wrists had metal rods in to keep them in a better position and ease my pain and it did and now I can use my hand and do things like crocheting, and hold things without pulling fingers back. The surgeon is a gem and nursing staff and Rheumatology. I wrote this because they saved my right hand and I believe give Staff the credit they deserve and Orthopaedic dept. Rheumatology instead criticising. The plaster room as well. They do their utmost for people, and get less credit for it. I get fed - up of hearing, listening to media criticising and other people. They all deserve a medal. So I say give credit where it is due instead of criticising.
I had some operations at Haslar when it was open, but most treatments and my hand operation have been at the Queen Alexandra.
"How lovely QA Staff and departments do a good job and help people"
