"Huge thank you to the colonoscopy team"

I underwent a colonoscopy today at The Royal Gwent and I want to say a huge thank you to the staff for their care.

Mary, my nurse, was a delight. She put me at ease right away even admiring the jewellery I was wearing and my hairstyle. Given I was, not suprisingly, feeling a little nervous, this was a great way of helping me relax. She explained the procedure and told me she'd be with me the whole time - and she was, even holding my hand when things got a bit uncomfortable.

The tea and biscuits were good too. The nurse who was with Mary in the theatre got us laughing by showing us her engagement ring under the camera (I bet she wishes the diamond was as big in real life!). Dr Balaratnam was friendly, calming and efficient.

Everyone else on duty seemed to be equally friendly and helpful. So...not a procedure I was looking forward to but made much easier by the manner and professionalism of the team.

Thanks to everyone (but especially to Mary - glad she got her 5!)
