"I visited with my 2-year-old who ..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I visited with my 2-year-old who needed a pot taking off her leg. The staff were friendly and courteous, and understanding when she became distressed.

What could be improved

There was a play area for children in the waiting room. I was appalled by the state of the toys provided - all were broken or missing parts which I can understand, but worse, all were absolutely. Touching them left my hands feeling greasy and grubby and I immediately had to remove my little girl (not easy when she's bored of waiting) and use alcohol hand cleanser on us both (my own, I couldn't see any provided by the hospital).

Anything else?

My child was biorn in this hospital and I've never had a complaint before.

I thought that cleanliness was a priority in hospitals. The fracture clinic may be a low-risk area, but to me these levels of filth would be unaccespable in any location.
