"I was diagnosed with Cancer 3.5 ..."

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was diagnosed with Cancer 3.5 years ago. Chemo brought on early menopause, consequently I started getting unbearably hot flushes every 45 mins which were extremely debilitating, aside the explanations I had to make to friends/colleagues. I requested that my GP refer me to GOSH to see a Homoeopathic consultant. By chance, my details we sent to the Director of Complementary Cancer Services. A full & detailed history was taken & based on lengthy discussions, a drug was prescribed to assist with the flushes. Within 10 days/2 weeks (albeit I was advised that I might not see any improvement for 6/8 weeks), there was an unbelievable improvement. I returned a couple of months later, the dose was increased & then increased on subsequent visits & I am now taking what I believe to be the maximum dose but ost importantly, the hot flushes have reduced from 25 per day/night to approximately 7 per day/night & the severity has lessened. I cannot put in to words what this has done, not only my temperament, but my lifestyle. For the first time in nearly 3 years, I have a quality of life that had been severely impacted. My Consultant, has been the constant key to my wellbeing & it is so rare to find a Dr who has not only good communication skills but exceptional listening abilities, aside her caring qualities. I cannot imagine how different my days would have been without the doctor's intervention & there are no words to thank her for all her constant care & support, as this is one side of my health that no longer impacts other areas that I am dealing with.

What could be improved

From day one, I have had total satisfaction in all that has been discussed for & with me. The only suggestion I have, is that your reception staff are not worked so hard - they are tireless in trying to accommodate appointments to the benefit of patients - they all provide a superb service.

Anything else?

The Homoeopathic services are invaluable to so may people. My elderly mother also had the benefit when she went through the menopause. I hope the Board are aware just how important Homoeopathy is to so many people when they do not want to use the conventional medicine route. I have had enough poision in my system through chemo, so the last thing I wanted to do was ingest more toxins.
