My partner attended A&E at 17. 45.
Promptly seen by a HCA at 18. 10 who took bloods, did not introduce herself, no explanation as to what bloods were taken. We were then told to take a seat back in the MAU waiting room, which was full with limited seating.
We waited to see a Dr. I asked at 22. 00 where was the Dr and was told they are handing over and you need to wait.
He was finally seen at 24. 30. Over a 6 hr wait to see a Dr, told there were no beds but needed admitting. I went home, my partner was shown to a visitors chair and sat there all night.
I arrived at 10am the following day, there was not even a trolley available. He finally got a trolley to lie on at 14. 00hrs. More than 20hrs after his admission.
This delayed him receiving treatment and care, his condition deteriorated following his admission, which is unsurprising.
I feel I need to be there the whole time to see that the basics are done. I am extremely concerned that the staff view this as acceptable care to be delivered. I am sure this is only the start of the story as his treatment is ongoing.
"I am sure this is only the start of the story"
