"Waste of nhs money"

My elderly father had a fall - over Xmas he was in s lot of pain and couldn't move his arm properly we thought he may have broken it.

Visited minor injuries (so avoiding treliske a&e) and was told couldn't been seen for an X-ray without gp referral - back to gp - then 3 day wait for X-ray!

What then is a minor injuries unit for I ask???? How ridiculous and a wasted gp appointment that I'm sure someone else could of used.

Next time we will go straight to Treliske which it seems is the only way to be seen without a gp referral

Whenever possible we will try to see patients referred for x-ray at community hospital locations by their GP on a drop-in basis.

This does depend on pre-booked appointments and the number of patients being referred as emergencies where the hospital additionally has a minor injury unit.

We would recommend patients call ahead so that we can advise on where they will be able to access the earliest appointment.

We are sorry you are unhappy with the service you've received.

We are unable to comment specifically on individual appointments but if you would like to contact us please email rcht.pals@nhs.net.
