About: Kings Cross Hospital

(as a relative),

I'd like to give a big shout out of a THANK YOU to NHS Tayside (& NHS Scotland)! 🌟

On Tuesday 27th December my elderly Mum had a very sore area on her leg, and I spoke to a great pharmacist in Boots on Perth Road about it. She suggested bringing Mum in to see her, which we did. She checked the area, spoke to Mum, and suggested she saw a Doctor. She arranged an appointment at Kings Cross Hospital for 6. 30 that night. Mum was seen promptly at 6. 30 by a lovely, patient Doctor, who had read Mum's notes from her own GP surgery in Glasgow. He spoke to Mum, checked and dressed the area, then gave Mum a course of penicillin and further dressings to use later. This was all done with no rush, and was very reassuring.

At every step of the way throughout this process, from the pharmacy assistants, pharmacist, reception staff at Kings Cross Hospital, and the Doctor, we were all met with calm, pleasant and friendly efficiency - nothing was too much trouble for anyone, and they could not have been nicer.

In these days of much negativity about the NHS, I just wanted to share this totally positive story. I have already posted this on my own Facebook page and the NHS Tayside Facebook page regarding this, but felt it should be here on the NHS Tayside website too - the more positive vibes and sharing the better!

Thank you again NHS Tayside❤...

Dear FrankieB

Thank you for taking time to post your positive feedback. I have shared this not only with the GP involved, but with the whole team. Your kind comments are enormously encouraging, especially coming at this very busy time when staff and clinicians can feel pressurised to see patients within the time frames they would like to achieve.

Although the numbers of GPs and nurses who choose to work in the Out of Hours period is a small proportion of the clinicians in Tayside, we have a dedicated band of not only clinicians but also administrative staff and drivers who are very keen to deliver the best care possible at all times.

We are delighted you were pleased with all aspects of our Service and wish your mother a very speedy recovery.

Thank you again.

Jane Bruce

Clinical Director, Tayside Out of Hours Service
