"Christmas Day Morning"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

On Christmas Day I was brought into hospital by ambulance. I have been diagnosed with Bone Cancer and it is in my spine. Christmas Eve the pain in my back, side and chest became unbearable. As you can imagine, no day is good for this never mind Christmas Day! My devastation, pain and upset of this was soon smoothed over with the amazing care I received from the moment I was wheeled in. A special mention to the Doctor on shift and the Staff Nurse - there attention to detail was second to none, nothing was too much trouble and they took extra care of myself and my family putting us at ease and getting us home to spend Christmas with the rest of our family. These 2 were outstanding, I would like this message passing onto them as a sign of myself and my family's gratitude for them and the fact they went above and beyond to make us feel at ease. They deserve a medal! Thank you so much, the NHS is a better place for having you.

Thank you for taking the time to let us have your thoughts about your visit to hospital on Christmas Day - especially as you're dealing with a serious illness at this time.

I will certainly share your post with the A&E team and I'm sure we will be able to pinpoint the doctor and staff nurse to pass on your kind words of gratitude.

My best wishes at a difficult time for you and your family Sarah Turner-Saint head of communications
