What I liked
The consultants were professional and respectful as were the doctors.
What could be improved
The carers or nursing staff were rude, showed little or no empathy to patients. Were disorganised, unprofessional and looked like they were ready for a night out rather than a day caring for sick patients. Excessive make-up, hair flopping all over, uniforms that didn't look clean and didn't fit properly. No respect or dignity shown to me or another patient on the ward.I was asked the same information repeatedly no communication between staff. No one who appeared to be in charge. The other patient was so disgusted she discharged herself and after 6 hours of pleading to go home I was finally allowed to leave.
Anything else?
I went home with more symptons than I went in with. A canula was left in my hand so long I developed flavitis. I lost my voice and subsequently have had to undergo further medical intervention at the Nuffield. The whole experience of the Wansbeck Hospital was traumatic , not a place to go if you are ill.
