"The consultant was helpful in ..."

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

(as a relative),

What I liked

The consultant was helpful in clearing up much of the confusion we suffered as a result of the contradictory messages we received from the nurses.

One nurse was kind and helpful.

What could be improved

Confused patients could be more closely supervised so that they do not end up waking around the car park as happened to my father on at least two occasions.

Soiled clothes could be removed rather than being left for 48 hours.

The nurses could supervise confused patients taking tablets.

Care could be taken to ensure the medication is given to the correct patients.

Care could be taken to ensure clothes and slippers do not get mixed up to avoid the spread of infection.

Nurses could treat patients with respect and dignity.

Care could be taken to ensure that patients have access to drinking water.

Nurses could monitor the diets of diabetic patients.

If the nurses phone relatives to come in to care for patients they could at least supervise the patient until the relative arrives.
