I received great care given by dedicated nurses, doctor and therapists. The atmosphere on this ward was clam and contrasted greatly with the very busy ward in Lancaster. The nurses were friendly and my key nurse Jen Pointon, was very compassionate at all times- especially when I was very low. She always showed interest and offered me encouragement. She affirmed every little progress that I made. When I began to recover movement, the therapists worked very hard with me and found alternative ways around the problems I encountered.
The worst bit was the shortage of the staff when I had toilet needs. This is because they had so many extra duties in addition to nursing e.g. serving meals and clearing up. Extra staff (ancillary) is needed to relieve the pressure. The kitchen staff deserve appraisal too. Food was excellent. They cared for my individual needs when it was necessary.
