No Gluten free food

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

After going through a endoscopy which I had to fast for 24 hours I was offered a sandwich after the procedure I told the nurse I was gluten free which can't be uncommon for them to come across in this department. I was told there was no gluten free sandwiches available.

This is not acceptable for patient care especially when we have had to fast for so long before the procedure and needs to be addressed for patients in the future.

Thank you for your feedback, I was disappointed to read about your experience however I am grateful that you have taken the time to tell us about the issue that you had.

I was sorry to learn that your gluten free diet was not accommodated or acknowledged by the staff. We can easily get gluten free food from the kitchen at very short notice and we also have gluten free biscuits on the unit so it is not acceptable that gluten free food was not provided for you.

I have made all our staff aware of this issue and that they can request for gluten free food from the kitchen on short notice.
