What I liked
I had a small heart attack in Feb and was treated elsewhere but then in March I had some new and different chest pains. I went to Stepping Hill who totally misdiagnosed the problem even after an overnight stay in a dirty noisy general ward as I was never actually seen by a cardiogist but seemed to be diagnosed remotely through some junior doctors on this ward.
So when it happened again instead of calling an ambulance my wife took me to Wythenshawe where the specialist A&E doctor in the dedicated cardiology room immediately diagnosed what I had experienced (a really strong ectopic heartbeat). Some further tests followed while I waited on the cardiac ward which was incomparible to the disgusting 'ward; at Stepping Hill.
I received the results late afternoon and was discharged a much less worried person.
What could be improved
Nothing at Wythenshawe.
Anything else?
Looking at the equivalent page for Stepping Hill shows a huge number of major complaints so mine was not an isolated incident.
What probably needs to happen is to shut the dreadful Stepping Hill and make Wythenshawe the hospital for Stockport as well. There is simply no comparison between the two hospitals and I was lucky that one can now choose which hospital to go to. It shouldn't be like this but one hospital is failing with poor facilities and disillusioned staff whilst the other is simply first class.
