"I do not know where I would be without your overworked caring wonderful staff"

About: Leighton Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Total hip replacement using an epidural, came round after op without any sickness which was great. Physiotherapists marvellous, was walking with 2 crutches and tackled main staircase within 3 days and was signed off by them. Unfortunately my bowels went to sleep and did not want to wake up, so I was transferred to the care of the wonderful staff on ward 12 who monitored me day and night and I had xrays, ct scans and then I was told after trying natures way they would have to operate but when they took me down to theatre and I was just about to go in it started to work a little, everyone was delighted and after all the arrangements made they were really pleased I could be taken back to ward 12 again.

15 days later after careful monitoring day and night, canulas and blood tests and blood pressure and bags of fluid I was ready to go home. I will be eternally grateful to all the staff from domestics to the surgical teams for their determination to pull me through and most importantly their smiles which are also good medicine. Well done Leighton Hospital I do not know where I would be without your overworked caring wonderful staff.

Thank you very much for taking the time to make contact us regarding the care given to you whilst a patient on Ward 9 and ward 12.

Staff are delighted to hear when patients feel that they have been well looked after. It was really nice to read such lovely feedback.

We will make sure that your feedback is given to the staff on both wards.

I hope you are making a good recovery.

Matron Helen Nutkins
