"emergency management unit at Warrington General Hospital "

About: Warrington Hospital

(as the patient),

I was driving myself to work 07.00a.m. Tuesday morning when I was struck suddenly with severe chest pains. I managed to park my car on Lovely Lane and get myself to the A&E department at Warrington General Hospital. I entered through the A&E Dept and was immediately greeted by staff who were polite and professional in their manner. Staff on the desk immediately realised I was in pain. I explained what was wrong with me and they took me through to see the Triage Nurse who was extremely helpful and made me feel at ease (even though at the time I thought I was having a Heart attack). Staff again were very professional, supporting me onto a bed, explaining what they were going to do, assuring me all of the time.

I was informed of the procedures being carried out (ECG's, X-Rays, what the Cannula was for, the tablets that were given to me, why blood samples were being taken and what the injection into my stomach was for.

I was taken up to the EMU1 ward and again given first class health care. A nurse (who asked me to call her Ali (Alison) was very sincere in her caring manner and was able to divert my thoughts from what was happening to me and though I admit to being very frightened I felt assured that I was in the best place.

My stay in the hospital was short (just over 12 hours) but during this time I was closely monitored and did not at any time have reason to complain. All of the staff that I came across be it medical, cleaners, persons serving meals were outstanding and professional. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It is wonderful to know that the NHS has people that work within it who actually care for their patients even when they have been on a 12 hour shift, from start to finish their caring nature shines through.

Thank you, Thank you
