"Continuing excellent care"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / General Surgery (Wards 16-18)

(as a relative),

Following resuscitation and a visit to theatre to have his bowel operated on by laparoscopy he was admitted to Adult Critical Care. He is currently being nursed on a one to one basis and remains on a ventilator. All the hospital staff were both kind and helpful throughout this worrying time with Mr. Sriwari standing out as exceptional. He talked about his preliminary tests beforehand and also described the operation he was about to perform even though it was an emergency. As my father is in his late eighties we were naturally very upset about him and this surgeon showed real concern for him, demonstrated calm patience with us and understood clearly how stressed we were. He made sure that he explained everything well - was realistic but made allowances for our shock too and gave us a wee glimmer of hope. As a family we can't thank everyone enough, especially Allison for the continuing excellent care and attention they have shown my dad and all the members of his immediate family.

Dear MCK Family,

Thankyou very much for taking the time to post your comments at such an anxious time. I am delighted to hear that Mr Sriwari and his team were able to help you come to terms with what has happened to your dad. The staff within the Adult Critical Care Unit pride themselves in providing safe and person centred care to their patients and their families as they appreciate what a stressful time this can be for you all. I will share your comments with all of the staff in the unit but especially Mr Sriwari and Allison as they will be happy to know that they were able to make a difficult time more bearable for you all.

I hope that your dad is continuing to make progress,

Best Wishes

Maureen
