What I liked
Virtually everything. There were some minor failings, but these are not worth mentioning as they were due only to lack of resources in a few areas (staffing, catering) and never to incompetence, lack of diligence or care on the part of the nursing or support staff.
What could be improved
Perhaps nursing staff could be gently advised that not all patients like being addressed patronisingly as "my darling", "my poppet" or "my sweetheart", and find this patronising. (This does not apply in the McCartney Day Unit whose nurses know better.)
Surname with a title is ok, or first name if the patient offers it or, if the nurse cannot remember these and comes from the West Country, "m'dear" is acceptable. Man to
man, "mate" is OK, being a friendly greeting between equals.
