"Recovering from MH and the Recovery College"

About: Community mental health services / Recovery College

(as the patient),

I was feeling alone and helpless. My recovery support worker @ Kingston South Team CMHT suggested I attended the recovery college at King Charles Centre. The sessions were very welcoming and the Peer Trainer and Trainer made me feel very comfortable. I could join in as much or as little as I wanted or felt I could. Being in the non judgmental setting and with people with similar symptoms / diagnosis was good. I gained from the recovery course and have attended lots of courses. I have mainly attended the courses held at King Charles Centre run by Kingston: Stella, Helen L and Helen M. The Peer Trainers gave me huge hope for my future via the Recovery College. The courses gave me a better self awareness and how I could use different coping strategies and relaxing techniques. I manage my symptoms by using and reinforcing the tips from the College. Thank You.

Dear Jennyc,

My name is Claire Reid and I am the Senior Patient Experience Co-ordinator for the Trust. I want to thank you for your lovely feedback. It is great to hear that you have had a positive experience with the Recovery College and that you have felt welcomed.

We are so pleased to learn that you have found the Recovery College courses helpful and informative, it sounds like they have been very valuable for you, and that is our intention. It is great to have such positive feedback and it does make it all worth while.

We do value any suggestions and comments, so thank you for taking the time to let us know what this has meant to you, and hopefully for encouraging others to know there is support and information available.

I will pass on your kind comments to the staff of the Recovery College, so they can see the positive effect they had.

I wish you well in your continued recovery

Best wishes

Claire
