"Bad experience giving blood"

About: Locala Walk in Centre

(as the patient),

I attended Locala a few months ago and had to wait 40 min before I was seen but in my mind I was anxious about my health which in the end was nothing to worry about but while I attended the clinician allowed a trainee nurse to take my blood sample from my left arm.

They pricked me in the incorrect place and couldn't take the blood which was very painful. Trainee staff which should not be allowed to try their skills with live patients who came to be tested for peace of mind not to go away with a painful experience. However the trainee was told to go and the clinician took over and decided to take blood from the opposite arm but upon doing so also did it wrong and caused a massive swell on my vein.

I was very angry about it but as I am not violent in anyway and came for their help I stayed quiet and was told its normal and then the nurse clinician ended up taking blood from the very first arm. After that they put the label on the bottle and while I was sitting there they realised the blood sample taken did not contain enough blood and was told to attend another appointment.

I thought that was ridiculous but as I was still anxious about my health and I wanted an outcome asap I asked them to take another full sample. Bearing in mind this was the third time being pricked for blood my arm and veins were aching and I was in severe pain from the past few attempts and my right arm vein was swollen up the size of a table tennis ball. I was told its just a minor bruise and it will go away in a few days which I thought was disgusting but on this last occasion they managed to take a full blood sample and advised it would take 2 weeks for the results? ? ?

I called a few times within this period but no response I was contacted a week later than expected due to me hassling the clinic but with good results which made me forget about this ordeal and I was not aware of this on the website or I would have posted this on the day so apologies but I think this is the worst clinic ever!

Dear Biggy

I have asked my colleagues at the Walk in Centre to take a look at your comments in order to respond to you.

I have been informed that the Walk in Centre team don't take any blood samples and we think you may have been with the team in the Emergency Department. The waiting area can be confusing as both services use the same are and are located next to each other.

Best wishes

Sarah

Hi,

At the walk in they do take bloods and swabs etc, im just pointing out why would I make up a story like like that in detail?.

If they have told you they do not take bloods then this is incorrect as you can look at my record for when I was in last to make sure of the authenticity of my story.

Many thanks.
