"communication matters"

I have had my three children in Watford General Hospital and have been very gratful of the care we received.

More recently I spent a day in AAU to exclude a pulmonary embolus. I spent a lot of the day waiting to be seen and assessed and was concerned by the lack of information and communication.

I am a GP myself so am very sympathetic to the work pressures staff are under however I chatted to many disgruntled patients who really just wanted some more information about what was likely to happen to them and when - even if the answer is a 4 hour wait.

This is our NHS so lets all make it the best it can be by communicating effectively to patients and colleagues.
