"I have a chronic condition and ..."

About: Derriford Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have a chronic condition and was on the Planned Investigation Unit - everyone was fantastic, all of the nurses and healthcare assistants were very nice. My surgeon was great and talked me through both ops, even when I was on the table during the first one, he kept checking that I was ok and not in too much discomfort. After the 2nd op the next day, they were great when I came round from the general. Although, the nurses on the ward weren't aware of the special care that I needed after the 2nd op so that I wouldn't be at risk of infection. Even when I go in for my check-ups they are very thorough and I have seen the surgeon several times already to make sure that it's all healing well and no infection has occured. I have never even considered going anywhere else for my treatment! My 2 specialist nurses have been amazing. When there has been any problem at all they are happy to speak to me on the phone and have explained everything fully before the ops and since then as well.

What could be improved

The attitude of the student nurse on the ward.
