"They made me feel that they don't believe the pain I am in"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Emergency Medicine

(as the patient),

I understand A and E busy and expect long waiting times. however the waiting room has no papers to read and the tv always has sport channel on at night. Staff on the night shift can be very rude and impatient. They make me feel like they don't believe the pain my arm was in. the way they talked and looked at me made me feel really depressed that nhs staff treat patients this way

Dear

I am very sorry to read your feedback on Patient Opinion. Of course the Emergency Department, as you rightly say is always busy. There are infection prevention and control issues in relation to the availability of reading materials which really mean that we cannot actually supply such things as they would be an infection risk. There is no excuse for staff rudeness and I am sorry you experienced this.

Staff should always take it on trust that pain is what the patient says it is so I understand if you felt frustrated by the attitude of staff.

NHS Grampian aims to be a caring, listening and improving organisation and I apologise if we did not meet your expectations on this occasion.

Kind regards

There have been multiple occasions where I felt like they where rude and was not listening. I think an investigation needs to be put into place.
