"Trying to get my medication"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as the patient),

Long story short... been with this practice forever. Past few years tho after having 2 mc which wasn't delt with properly I had a baby, then a few months later I started getting numb feelings in my leg and after falling down stairs I finally went to my doctor to be told it's sciatica threw tablets at me. Then it took for an out of hours doctor to say it's not and referred me to hospital where the 1st doctor examined my leg and knew it was sciatica and sent me for an emergency mri scan.

I found out that my L5 had collapsed onto my S1 and the cartilage was compressed against my left legs nerves which was causing the pain in my legs. I've been put on every tablet possible which never helped or helped for a few hours calming the pain down. I have been referred to the pain clinic and physio but still nothing from them, so I've really just been relying on my medication! Now as it's a repeat I understand I have to give the at least 3 days notice but it's got to the stage I'm having to give them up to 2 weeks notice due to this.... anytime I phone to order my prescription they don't have records of me phoning or if I do I get someone telling me they are highly addictive and shouldn't be on them due to miscarriages. That is none of their business to begin with and made me feel like I was abusing drugs! Or my prescriptions got lost or missplaced or not done now I have complained 3 times now and each letter has never got to them and now they have removed me from my GP which I do currently need as I'm on medication that I have to take continuously. I'm appalled!

Dear Sisi me sawa

Thanks for getting in touch - however I was sorry to read about your recent experiences with your GP practice. I can completely understand why you would feel upset.

If you would like me to pass on your concerns to the local practice manager I'd be more than happy to assist, you can contact me directly on 01698 858 292 or via email kathryn.ferguson@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

Best wishes

Kathryn

Update posted by Sisi me sawa (the patient)

Aww sorry I'm new to all this... I get why it's not highlighted better. I'm upset due to the lack of care this GP has gave to me as patient that's been in their practice all my life. I have had receptionists shout information about me to a full room. I've handed complaint letters into the practice only to find out that the practice manager wasn't receiving any of my letters.

'm just telling because I don't want another person to go threw any of that. Thanks
