"Staff were second to none at Keswick"

About: Mary Hewetson Cottage Hospital (Keswick) / Older people's healthcare North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as the patient),

Doing a repair to my garden shed roof, following a stormy night I was fitting the facia board to end of roof. Standing on a ladder, suddenly the wood slipped and I ducked and I lost my foot hold on the ladder and fell backwards off the ladder down some steps below injuring my hip.

For a while I just lay there out of breath and shocked, then tried to get up knowing it would hurt but no one was about. Eventually I crawled up to the house from where I was transported by ambulance to West Cumberland Hospital Whitehaven.

X-rayed and shipped back to Keswick Cottage Hospital where I was admitted to the male ward to await news of the x-ray. A study of the x-ray showed no fracture or damage to the hip/bone but the pain steadily grew worse.

The hospital staff were second to none, perfect, as was the hospital - clean tidy and no complaints whatsoever. And the food was excellent and on time and on leaving my stay at Mary Hewetson Cottage Hospital. I can say nothing but excellence in every way staff and hospital alike.
