"Such an excellent facility"

Alston is a remote community in the North Pennines. It is most fortunate in have a community hospital with minor injuries unit. Recently I managed to injure my thumb and needed to attend for stitching and dressing changing over a period of 10 days- at all times professionalism and kindness were in great evidence. My minor injury would have been a major problem if I had to travel the 30 minutes (60 round trip) to Cumberland Infirmary- even more difficult if I was infirm. It is essential that Alston always retain such an excellent facility.
