"Chronic Pain"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Pain Management Clinic

(as the patient),

I am a Lanarkshire Chronic pain clinic patient who receives regular lignocaine infusions at Wishaw General. This treatment helps with my long term conditions. It is the only treatment that has no side effects! I am at the end of my tether dealing with NHS Lanarkshire. I feel NHS Lanarkshire is not addressing chronic pain services seriously, in particular my need for regular treatment. Staff shortages, lack of ward space, underfunded service are a few issues that if addressed would help my situation. I am trying hard to remain in full time work. Although I work full-time I also care for my mother who has Leukaemia and have just lost my father to cancer only 4 weeks ago.

Patients may not care that treatments are delayed, but once you are left to wait 16 weeks as I was, you may then start to complain. If you want to see a Pain Consultant in Lanarkshire there is a wait of 7 months if you are a returning patient. Health Boards should be held to task and made to publish statistics for returning patients.
