What I liked
I liked being set at ease by the visits of my surgeon and anaesthetist. Today's medics are strictly honest indeed about risk but who does not admire them for going into the vortex of risk time after time and delivering such jolly good results. On a simple note of presentation I liked seeing my surgeon dressed immaculately-you see if a person shows care of the person they can generally be relied on to show care in their work-may I add that everyone in the wards and along the chain of responsibility to and from theatre was most helpful. Of course I have to say that after fasting for a day I really liked my tea-you don't expect an eclair to round it off but yes-there was one-and that lentil soup was very very tasty. Lets put to bed the criticism of hospital food. The choice was more than adequate to boot.
What could be improved
Speaking a the day surgery unit I was asked to be part of a survey. Thank you for consulting public opinion. When one matches the big throughput of the surgeons and the variety of cases presenting and the detail of care one can be just so glad we have a teaching hospital of such quality on our doorstep. I watched nursing staff and doctors and anaesthetists and ward staff through the day and was highly impressed by the efficiency and consideration which characterised their work
This is the morning after an inquinal hernia op. I want to say a big "thank you". I was up and walking after a gorgeous tea and free of pain. I have had 2 previous ops but this beats them all. With such techniques as the resident team under the consultant has developed this op is top notch. I needed no painkillers and had a good nights sleep. Maximum care was also taken to ensure I was op fit.
