"Furious about lack of care and respect"

About: Hertford County Hospital / Diabetic medicine

I was originally at the St. James' hospital in Leeds for regular diabetic check ups and moved about 5 months ago. My last appointment was in October last year after a stay in hospital caused by diabetic ketoacidosis from the flu. After having two appointments cancelled (in Leeds and Lister hospital, Stevenage) and one cancelled by myself to move address I applied for an expedite appointment to move my now a year late appointment earlier. To this I was told that I did not have an important enough reason for an earlier appointment. Whichever doctor thought that having an appointment 14months instead of the 2months it was supposed to be after the last one, where the hospital last saw me at risk of death should be ashamed of themselves. I'm working hard to improve my health but have been abandoned by the health services and shown a distinct lack of care.

Something clearly has gone amiss between the transfer of your care between the two hospitals in terms of understanding your need to be seen and whilst we're very sorry for the upset you feel, we can help you to get this sorted.

All you have to do is contact our generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net service with all your details and we will ask the diabetes team to review the situation and, just as importantly, talk to you personally as a result.

We do hope that you get in touch.
