"Lack of understanding and information"

About: Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust Tameside General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was admitted as an in patient and although I explained that I thought the pain killers I was already taking didn’t work I was still given the same ones, and I think they still didn’t work! I was then sent home as I could not have a CT scan for over a week and I agreed as there was no point in my taking up a bed. I now know the scan has been reported on but no one has contacted me, I am still at home in pain 80% of the day, cannot leave the house or dress in my own clothes and I feel like I have no idea of what is going to happen now, even though I have rang everyday. I feel I am at a disadvantage as I am now an outpatient and cannot get hold of the secretary of the consultant I was under the impression I was under, however have found out today it is someone else. Again whose secretary I cannot get hold of.

It is fast approaching weekend and I am aware that sometimes nothing seems to be done over a weekend. I feel I have been very patient and realised that nothing could be diagnosed until the scan had been completed, so I feel like I have put my life on hold and dealt with the pain as best I could. Fortunately, I am self employed because if I wasn’t I think I would have had a long time off work, however I still have bills to pay. I am in need of pain killers that actually work and it appears to me like my only alternative is to go to A&E to get something done, which seems ridiculous in my opinion considering because I think my consultant has all the information required.
