(as the patient),

Hi guys it's me again. Today I was taken for a procedure called Bronchoscopy. As you all know iv been in for a while now. Iv been looked after a few new nurses Sarah Louise and Dawn The auxiliary Marian young girl with the biggest smile. I was really scared for this procedure but they all assured me. When I went down Marian went down with my bed. There I was handed over to a nurse Shona. Thou she was running around doing everything she found the time to come speak to me. Dr Joe was my consultant doing the procedure. He came explained everything to me in the most professional and polite manner. When I told him I was nervous he was very very sympathetic and tried to ease my worry away. Then nurse Angela arrived smiling and putting me at ease. Nhs is the best service in this world, Where in the world would you get a consultant/ surgeon wheeling a bed of a patient into the theatre to keep me from worrying talking away like he was my friend. In the theatre nurse May was there to welcome me. They all put at ease before starting the procedure. Due to my coughing thou dr had already numbed my throat, he numbed my nose and put camera through it. They kept talking and kept my mind of it. 7 star service Hopefully il get better and go home soon. Thank you to each and every person that has crossed my path. Even the kind ladies that clean the rooms Lorraine Linda and the lady that works daily with the big smile.. Thank you to the best people in the world.

Dear N17ala

Thank you for taking the time to post.

I have spoken with Margaret, the Senior Charge Nurse in Ward 43 and she is happy for me to respond on behalf of us both.

I can absolutely understand why you would be scared about coming for a bronchoscopy procedure but it sounds like you have a good relationship with the staff in Ward 43 and they did a good job in preparing and reassuring you before the procedure. I know that Margaret has passed on your post to Sarah, Louise, Dawn, Marian and the staff in Ward 43 and I am sure that they will be grateful for your lovely words. I have also passed on your post to the manager of our domestic staff to ensure that Lorraine, Linda and the other staff can see your kind feedback.

It was great to read about your experience in the Endoscopy Unit too and that you continued to feel well cared for throughout and after your procedure by all levels of staff. Sometimes a sympathetic ear, a good explanation and a smiling face is all it takes to make you feel a bit better. Dr MacKenzie will be pleased to learn that his kind gestures made such a difference to you.

A few months ago, a patient awarded 3 gold stars, in a Patient Opinion post, to some of our nurses in the Endoscopy Unit and they still display them with pride on their name badges. I will make sure that Shona, May and Angela get the 7 gold stars that you've awarded them when I'm back on the Victoria Hospital site tomorrow. They will be over the moon, though I can feel that things may now start to get a bit competitive!!

Thanks again for your post, I hope that you are keeping well and have made a good recovery from your bronchoscopy.

Kind regards

Gill Ogden
