What an utterly dreadful time. The nurses do not care. They work in a 'tick box' fashion. I had poor pain relief, no interest in how I was, poor hygiene care, food and drink I could not reach, given inappropriate medication which required another ambulance within a day of being home, unnecessary bruising from needles, no information about what was happening, no discharge advice, inadequate nursing competence.I can only hope that noone experiences the same thing. This was quite a culture rather than the odd person so I rather fear that this happens to most patients admitted to this department. I felt unsafe and uncared for. A truly despicable place.

Dear Patient A – I am sorry that your experience was so poor. I very much regret that the standard of care you received and the facilities provided fell short of the level you expected. Clearly the last thing we would want any patient to feel is unsafe and uncared for. I am pleased to say that your experience is very much at odds with most of the correspondence and feedback we receive, but I accept that this in no way lessens the worries and concerns you had. In order that we can understand in more detail where the care you received was so poor, and take steps to ensure no other patients suffer a similar experience I would be grateful if you could contact complaints@nbt.nhs.uk to provide us with your details and the approximate dates you attended in August. Please quote reference NHSC61, which will allow us to use the points you raised in your post to undertake the investigation.
