My son sufferred a severe shoulder injury in Feburary. He had an x-ray on the day of the injury which didn't show any issues and underwent a few months physiotherapy (privately paid due to NHS waiting times). He started playing rugby again in August and in his first match back injured his shoulder again. We visited a shoudler specialist who recommended an MRI and to speed things up we bypassed the NHS and went pricate for this. Transpires he has an old fracture and torn muscles which means he cannot undertake much physical activity other than some non invasive cardio. Although we have a scan with the results NHS are saying its 26 weeks before he can be seen - in the meantime he continues to be in pain and for an active teenager this is quite a hard thing to take when you cannot keep yourself fit and active. Now I appreciate there may be more pressing cases but is there no priority given to children or those who already have a diagnosis? 26 weeks seems to be way beyond the target waiting time.
