I had a caesarean in May and couldn't fault the surgeons or theatre staff. They were absolutely amazing. It then came to the day I was supposed to be discharged. I was told at 3 o'clock I could go home after a discharge report was done. Baby had been checked by Paediatrician and I was checked. My husband packed the car. We waited and waited and waited. Others on the ward were also told the same thing and were really unhappy too. It got to 5:30. I wanted a drink but was told they put tea away from 3-8pm so visitors can't help themselves but nor could I. My husband was hungry and as it was Sunday no shop was open in hospital and he had to search round to try and get me a hot drink from a machine. It got to 6pm, I was getting anxious so asked when the discharge note was going to be done. They told me they were busy so didn't know. By this time my husband was really hungry. They said yes we will do before we go home at 7pm. Then 7pm came and they said that it was the last person who said that and they had gone home and the next person hadn't turned up. At 8pm they said the person who could do it was an hour late for work so had only just turned up and had to catch up. Then it got to 9pm. I was in tears. The ward was so hot and 25 degrees on thermometer. They then told me they might not get time to do discharge note and I might have to stay. I could not believe it as I was told at 3 I could go when note was done. Finally I was told at 10.35pm I could go home with baby! What a time to discharge a new born baby and me as a first time mum. I understand staff are busy but this really was not a good experience.
"Not treated well."
