(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 weeks ago and underwent surgery at the QMH recently.

From attending for my pre assessment to arriving on the Day Surgery Ward for my surgery I was treated with kindness, care and compassion.

The professionalism that the staff showed was superb, nothing was a problem for anyone, all of my questions were answered and support and constant reassurance was given to me every step of the way. The staff also looked after my family and I am so grateful for that.

My post op recovery was difficult in many ways for me, but I couldn't have gotten through it if it had not been for the amazing care that I received. The staff went above and beyond and I am so so grateful and thankful.

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell your story about the positive experience you have had within the Day Surgery Unit at Queen Margaret Hospital. I am very proud of the fact that you found the care and compassion from the staff was not only directed at you but also included your family. It gives a true meaning to patient centred care. I will ensure that all the staff see your post. I can only imagine how you must feel with such a life changing diagnosis but I hope that the support you received will encourage you to stay positive in your recovery.
