What I liked
On arrival to A&E i was dealt with quickly
The nurse in the triage department was lovely and kind and very reassuring.
The food was good, with a good choice.
Occupational health was very useful
What could be improved
I was not examined by a doctor in the 5 days i was in the hospital.
I had to fight with the nurses to get the drugs i needed.
i was basically ignored whilst on the ward
i was not communicated with at all until day 4 and thats when they were trying to discharge me
The doctor in A&E on my first visit place an iv catheter without prepping my arm and did not wear gloves.
i was admitted with acute pain for a slipped disc, and he asked if i had tried swimming!
the second time i visited the doctor did not give me any drugs and after he discharged me he watched me hobble out of A&E barely able to walk, where i had to go to one end of hospital to get prescription and then to the other to book an outpatients appointment. He didnt even assist me with dressing after he had examined me.
On the ward i didnt see nurses using the hand sanitiser at the end of my bed, ever!!!!
Anything else?
The nurses were generally good and caring. The doctors were obviously busy, but need to bare in mind they need to treat each patient as an individual.
I have been placed on the waiting list for surgery but i am doing whatever it takes to Not have surgery at this hospital
