i had a cancer removed from bladder at the beginning of march and had to go for another op to make sure it hadn't spread.7 weeks later i arrived one day earlier this week at 7 45 am. no one said their name to me, just give me your letters and go in there we got no beds. waited 2 and 1/2 hours then was taken to a ward again nobody greeted was left sat in a chair with curtains round.
Porter came to take me to theatre i told him i had no gown, stockings and cap whereupon he went to look but came back no luck. Then a nurse threw a pair of surgical stockings on the bed said put them on, as i am partly disabled with back i couldn't put them on, grudgingly the person helped. waited for a gown then ages later i was taken for my op.later i asked for a painkiller and was given one of my own prescibed tablets that was at 2 00 pm. i asked for a jug of water as my op was the bladder should drink a lot. wasn't any nurses on the ward so i was left from 2 00 pm until 11 50 pm. i rang for painkiller and water. Nurse came said we're busy so i rang 10 mins later same thing. i blew a fuse and told them they wern't nurses and i was going home, but with a catheter in i wasn't allowed out of bed not one of us slept a wink that night.
next morning ward manager came and I told them what happened it was all logged down and i said i wanted it to go to the executive. a lot of people came round my bed and a very kind man gave me a hug and said this isn't right. well the day went on, i was asked did i want a bowl to wash i said yes as i hadn't been allowed out of bed but they couldn't find a bowl this is a new hospital.
Then no jugs were available for water i was told we will have to send out to tesco for some jugs.i had taken a large bag of my drugs in and nobody came to put them under lock.at one stage a nurse came gave me a b/p tablet at night which i take in morning,i could go on but fed up reliving it so i cut this story short, just hope after my experience i don't have to go in whiston hospital again.
