"Disgusted with ward 31"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

My grandma was took in a e after falling , and then moved on to ward 23 where the staff where lovely and helpful as she was also suffering with demnture and where very good to her , on the second day she was left on a commode which she fell off on to the floor , now if someone had read the notes she shouldn't of been left alone to go toilet this I can just about forgive as the staff where lovely and very concernd . But on Thursday she was moved to ward 31 where she rapidly went down hill! I came to visit on the Sunday to find my grandma with no teeth in I asked the nurse where they where ? She tried to say she had no teeth in when she arrived on the ward I'd read in her notes that she was fed a roast beef dinner which she couldn't swallow the nurse then told me she was fed soft food! Bit different to the notes! We eventually found her teeth stinking in a box they brushed them with toothpaste and put them in back in her mouth .under the bed was filthy old combs which must of fell down there from other pastients! By Monday she had passed away was not happy with the treatment of my grandmother every elderly person should be treated with dignity!

Really do believe that the nurses should have more training! I do believe that my grandma would still be here if she was not moved on to that ward! Totally disgusted . But praise for the nurses on ward 23 couldn't do anough for my grandma

Dear Reviewer,

We are very sorry to hear about the passing of your grandma. We take your complaints very seriously and would like to investigate further so as to provide you with a further response. To help us do so could you please send us your grandma’s name, address, NHS number and date of birth to gill.staton@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. We are, however, happy to hear about the praise you reserve for the nurses on ward 23 and will pass this feedback on to .

Kind regards,
