What I liked
The healthcare assistant who gave me a hug, and made my husband and me tea and toast in A&E was a life-saver - I was falling apart and they knew just the right thing to say. I'm so sorry I don't remember your name, but you were wonderful.
The staff in A&E gave us a private room, which was essential, and their care was exemplary.
The midwife is a credit to midwifery and Epsom Hospital. They were a wonderful support throughout my miscarriage, going above and beyond the call of duty. They deserves a raise AND a promotion!
The doctor who I saw in A&E, and also for my day surgery was wonderfully genuine and caring and will make a great GP.
The doctor, who carried out my surgery, and a subsequent scan in 2010, was professional and caring, and took plenty of time to explain things. They wwere infinitely patient, and obviously experienced in the job.
Don't lose the personal touch - hospital is an intimidating place to be, and it makes the difference to feel people genuinely care.
What could be improved
The consultant I saw in the EPAU could have been slightly more considerate of the fact I just lost my baby however frequently they see women like me.
The day surgery booking in is incredibly disorganised and impersonal, and little privacy. The anaesthetist waltzed into my cubicle in their own clothes, with no ID badge, and started talking to me about the op and I had no idea who they were! Having said that, they were brilliant calming me down before they put me to sleep.
Maternity care at Epsom seems to be a positive experience so far - please don't let me down when it comes to my labour later this year!
