"Pain during treatment"

I was in Wythenshawe, Burns Unit in an induced coma. I feel that they literally saved my life and I am very grateful to them for all of their care. There is something that I have an issue with and I would like to tell them about this so that it does not happen to anyone else. Whilst I was in the coma, two nurses were tending to my burns. The process meant that they had to take the ‘top’ off my wounds. At the time I could hear everything that they were saying, nothing wrong with that, but I could also feel what they were doing and it was extremely painful. I was trying to let them know that it was hurting me, but I could not communicate. This went on for about 30 minutes and the female nurse must have realised that I was in pain and she said ‘sorry about this’. I then drifted off and I was not aware about anything else. When I was brought out of the coma, the same procedure had to be repeated. Each time it was very painful. The last time I had to have it done I said that it was hurting me and the nurse said that I could have been given ‘gas and air’ to help me through it’. I just wish this had been offered to me during the other sessions.
